Front Page Progress

Main heading, left justified and in the background to show the importance of the artist.
List of exclusive features, attracts audience in.
Left justified list of artists. Immediately shows the audience what the genre is if they recognise the names.
Slanted images, adds depth to the page.
Barcode to make it look like a real magazine.
Main image, centred to show the importance of the artist.
Firstly, I decided to change the position of the slanted images. I thought that if they were right next to the main image and the title that they may take away some attention from the artist. I decided to move them to the bottom left, as it is out of the way but still there. In addition, I added the name of the featured artist and a quote he said from the double page spread. I did not have this on my plan, but I decided to add it as I thought it would be important to show the audience the genre and the type of person the artist is. This is used a lot on any magazine as it attracts the magazines target market.
Lastly, I also decided to move the list of artists, as with the images to the left and the name of the artist, there was not enough room and if I had made space for it, then the left side would have looked extremely cramped and the right extremely empty.
Front Page First Draft Feedback
The things my target market liked about my front page:

- The central focus of the photo is clear with a direct gaze. The black and white colour scheme is good.
- The pose looks like it would appear on a hip hop magazine. The colour scheme and name are good too.
- Good photo, good artists, good pull quote.
- Pose in the photo is strong - definitely links to music.
- Good use of colour and clear house style.
- Photo perfectly shows the genre, it all looks believable.
- The page looks full but not cramped or forced.
- Good house style.
- Professional picture. House style works well.
- Good pull quote.
- Bold masthead.
- Writing is aligned well.
Things my target market think I could improve on:

- Make the issue number smaller so there is more room
- Change the colour of the pull quote and make the text different sizes
- Change the background colour
- Add a barcode or price so it looks more like a magazine
- Remove background on title
- Photo is too edited
- Make the artists names bigger to draw in your audience
- Use a different font than the title one
- Make the headline stand out more
- Add another photo
- Features list could be made smaller
- Add more cover lines and sub-images in order to fill up the space.
- Add a barcode
