Kerrang! House Style Analysis
White, black and red are the most common colours that occur both on the front cover and the inside of the magazine. They are used for the page furniture, such as the stars around the outside of an article, boxes surrounding text and the text itself.
In RockSound, one of the recurring things that are shown throughout the magazine is the use of bright colours. Bright colours such as yellow and blue add vibrancy to the magazine, and appeal to the younger target market. Its effective in drawing attention to certain aspects of the page, such as text and titles.
The red on almost every page is used for headings or subtitles as it stands out from the white and black because it is far brighter. It is also used for backgrounds, so the shape of the box its making is more noticeable.
On the front cover, one of the more noticeable house styles is the continuous use of all capital letters, white font. This is used in the masthead, strapline and the exclusive features.
The artists are captured in a similar way throughout the magazine. They always look quite excited and happy.
There is a continuous use of small marks on the page which almost look like someone has gotten a paint brush and flicked it onto the page, which is the page furniture. Parts are also taken out of the text to make it look imperfect. However this works with the magazine and the band.
