Page Furniture

Kerrang!

On Kerrang!’s double page spread has a lot of page furniture surrounding the pages edges. For a start, there are stars that are black and slanted. There are parts of the stars missing which makes it look distressed. This is also a theme throughout the magazine, as a lot of the titles have parts missing. In addition, there are cartoon characters that link with the text on the page.
On the front cover there is a lot of page furniture. For example, there are boxes and arrows that are the backgrounds of some text, but they also help to make the page look fuller and add design elements to it. At the top, there is left justified and right justified arrows which point towards the middle, and have text and images in them. They help to draw attention to the text and images inside of them, but also help the page look fuller.

ROCKSOUND

Rocksound also has a lot of page furniture. At the top of the front page, there is a yellow banner which is incorporated into the colour scheme, but also highlights the text in the foreground. In addition, there is a column that is left justified of artists which have boxes as the background. This helps anchor the text and also adds to the blue and yellow colour scheme. The harsh edges of the boxes also work well as they contrast with the almost curvy writing of "tonight alive". In the contents page, two lines, one vertical and one horizontal separate the page into sections while keeping it neat and preventing it from being crowded.
